INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Holden Arboretum has an internship
opportunity available in Horticultural Therapy.
Holden is one of the largest natural
arboreta in the United States. Established in 1931 on 100 acres
of land, Holden manages more than 3,500 acres in Lake and Geauga
counties, with 2,900 acres of natural areas and 600 acres of
horticultural collections and displays, registering more than
6,000 species of trees and plants.
Our internship program offers the
opportunity to experience various job responsibilities in a
professional environment. On-the-job instruction, educational
sessions and field trips are a few ways that we offer as a
perfect compliment to academic study.
Holden provides horticultural therapy
services onsite and in a variety of settings the community. The
program serves adults with developmental disabilities, physical
rehabilitation patients, adults with traumatic brain injury in
vocational rehabilitation, older adults with dementia and people
coping with cancer. Interns gain experience in all aspects of
planning and implementation of programs, working with allied
professionals and growing plants in our greenhouse for program
use.

Seasonal Workers
The Holden Arboretum is searching for
Horticulture Seasonal Workers.
Field and Turf Mowers
Seasonals will be tractor mowing fields
or mowing fine turf and string line trimming. We are seeking
experienced operators. Responsibilities include safe, efficient
operation and daily routine maintenance of equipment. Duties may
include helping horticulture staff with plant maintenance.
Candidates should be able to work
independently or within small groups. Good Interpersonal skills,
the ability to work in a team, attention to detail and the
ability to perform strenuous physical tasks in various weather
conditions are essential. Candidates must possess a valid
driver’s license.
There is two (2) position available
starting in May. The rate of pay is $7.50 an hour. Limited
rooming options available.
