Fridays in the Garden (FiG)

 

 

 

 

FiG meets from 10-11:30am, Fridays in the Warren H. Corning Visitor’s Center, unless noted. Meetings start with light refreshments and conversation, followed by a presentation or walk with the experts. No need for reservations; just show up.  Dress for the weather/terrain and bring your cameras or binoculars

No FIGs today.  It’s Plant Sale weekend.  Remember we have reinstated Members Only Day from noon-5pm on Friday, May 2.  Hope to see you there! 

May 9

 

Take a stroll through the Myrtle S. Holden Wildflower garden with Holden’s horticulturalists, Mark Bir and Tom Yates.  Discover the beauty of the garden as the plants begin to bloom.

 

May 16

 

 

Time to divide those plants before they get out of hand, especially if you didn’t do so in the fall.  Bring plants to exchange and find something new for your garden.   We will meet outside the Corning Visitor Center.

Visit the David G. Leach Station in Madison, Ohio for our yearly outing to see the beautiful rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias.  Our special guides will be Steve Krebs and Don Whitney. Carpool from Corning Visitor Center or meet in Madison.

Introduction to the Education Department’s Bird Discovery Pack with Julie Dougherty.  Pick up you safari journal and get ready to hike!  Don’t forget to bring your binoculars.

Talk a stroll through the Display Garden and enjoy the beauty and fragrance of the lilacs with Toby Davidson and Meg Kempton.  Have your questions for the experts.

Learn about the Bioneers Program from Debra Illes.  Discover innovative solutions to our earth’s most pressing problems.  Don’t miss it! 

 

June 20

Join us as we take a tour of the Holden Science Center and learn about Holden’s research activities.  Our tour guides will be Mary Topa, director of science and research and Kurt Smemo, soil biogeochemist.

Enjoy a fun filled morning learning about our Wild Child Program that will be featured at Holden this summer.  Guiding us through the experience will be Marian Williams and Sharon Graper.  Feel like a kid again!
