Salamander Migration Hotline

Many salamanders including the large spotted salamander come out of the woods after dark and head to the ponds to lay their eggs on the first balmy spring nights.  If you want to help us find and follow these amphibians on their journey then register for our salamander hotline. Only those pre-registered will be admitted.  When conditions are right we will email you to come to Lantern Court after dark to witness this spectacular event.  Notice is usually less than 24 hours. Depending upon the weather the migration will occur between early March and early April. Space is limited so register soon. Dress for the weather and bring one flashlight per person.  No children under six years old and one adult must accompany each child. Directions, parking information and instructions to protect the salamanders will be sent upon registration.

Special note:  Members on any prior hotline lists will not be contacted unless they re-register.
