Come and enjoy an evening of wine and rhododendrons as thousands of spring blooms become a picturesque backdrop for an evening of sampling a variety of international, domestic and regional wines, tasty accompaniments and live music. Take in the sights, sounds, tastes and smells in one of the regions most celebrated rhododendron gardens, as well as Holden’s new Rhododendron Discovery Garden.

 

This year, enjoy live gypsy jazz music by Hot Djang!, a four piece acoustic ensemble featuring violin, acoustic guitars and upright bass.  The inspiration comes from the style of jazz made popular in Paris during the 1930s known as “Gypsy Jazz”.  In addition, they plan American jazz standards and original tunes.  Hot Djang! members are talented local musicians who perform live music at clubs and festivals throughout Northeast Ohio.

 

Dress for the weather, wear your walking shoes; we’ll provide a reusable wine goblet and your evening’s activities.  Leisurely move through our beautiful garden and enjoy drink, food samplings, and the company of others who appreciate nature’s bounty

 

Wine Tasting – Includes:

  • Free parking at Visitor Center; limited reserve parking at the Layer Garden
  • 12 tickets to taste from over 50 local, domestic and international wines during the evening
  • A take-home Holden Lexington glass wine sampler
  • Tasty accompaniments to complement select wines
  • A take-home bottle of a select wine

All proceeds from this event support the continued development and care of the region’s premiere rhododendron garden, The Helen S. Layer Rhododendron Garden and Holden's new Rhododendron Discovery Garden.

 

Notes: guests are welcome to bring their own glass goblet if they prefer vs. our Holden sampler glass.   However, they will still be served the same tasting amounts of wine.
